Team (Orange) Cartwright - 2006 Labrador Winter Games Champions
(larger version)
"They Brought Home The Cup" by Charlotte Dyson, Cartwright, Labrador
So many records have been broken
in the winter games this year
it brought joy to each one of us
and of course, many a tear.
There's Andrea, Preston, Nicki and Barry
Christa and Audrey, to name a few
who gave the team points they needed so bad
this is so very true.
We must not forget all the other athletes
who never received an award,
but the points they got to build up their team
was praised when the fans had roared.
The Team from Cartwright will always be happy
no matter what happens at a game
they will show their laughter, respect and pride
they will always remain the same.
No one can know how estastic they felt
to receive such brilliant news
to feel the pride to accomplish it all
unless they had walked in their shoes.
The hearts of Cartwright is filled with such cheer
because of what our athletes had done
from all their laughter, sweat and tears.....
They came home as number one.

Welcome to the official online home of the Labrador Winter Games
Some 400 athletes and community Co-ordinators from 27 communities came together from March 12th – 18th, 2006, along with almost 650 volunteers to celebrate the sporting and cultural heritage of Labrador.
It is our sincere hope that this website has provided as much information as possible to not only die hard fans of the Games, but also as a means of communication for the residents in which these games are representing but were unable to be here to experience the games themselves.
We only hope that this site provided you as much information on not only the results of competitions, but information on the participants as well. Through the official newspaper of the Labrador Winter Games the "Northern Star", we hope we have kept every resident in all of the communities of this "Big Land" informed.
Every attempt will be made to keep this site up and running through to the next Labrador Winter Games in 2009. Seems like a long time, 3 years, however as the old saying goes "tomorrow is just a day away"...
